Quebec Law 25 — what it means for your inbox

Quebec’s Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector (Law 25 / Bill 64) imposes strict requirements on how personal information is collected, used, and processed. For psychologists, lawyers, notaries, CPAs, and physiotherapists, this means any tool that reads email content must handle personal data with the highest standard of care. Most AI tools fail this test by uploading client data to foreign cloud servers. friiup is built differently: processing occurs on Quebec-hosted infrastructure, PII is redacted before AI analysis, and no raw client data is ever transmitted to external AI systems.

A note for professionals across Canada: While friiup is engineered to meet Quebec’s Law 25, the same architecture exceeds the requirements of PIPEDA (federal) and provincial equivalents in Ontario, BC, and Alberta.

Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

friiup is operated by Ari Zucker, sole proprietor, Montréal, Québec, Canada. Contact: ari@friiup.com

2. What information we collect

We collect and process the following to provide the Service:

We do not collect passwords. Revoke access at any time through your Google or Microsoft account settings.

3. How we use your information

Exclusively to provide and improve the Service. We do not sell your data. We do not use your email content to train AI models. We do not display advertising.

4. PII redaction

Before any email content is processed by AI systems, friiup applies an automated PII redaction layer that removes client names, health card numbers, social insurance numbers, addresses, phone numbers, and other personal identifiers. Raw PII is never transmitted to third-party AI APIs.

5. Data residency and storage

All friiup infrastructure is hosted in Québec, Canada (OVHcloud Montréal or AWS ca-central-1). Your data does not leave Québec. This satisfies the requirements of Québec Law 25, PIPEDA (federal), and analogous provincial statutes across Canada.

6. Third-party subprocessors

A current list of subprocessors is available on request at ari@friiup.com. All subprocessors are contractually bound to data residency and confidentiality requirements consistent with this Policy.

7. Your rights (Québec Law 25 / PIPEDA)

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information; withdraw consent and revoke access at any time; data portability; and lodge a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec (CAI). Contact: ari@friiup.com

8. Data retention

Email processing data is retained for 90 days, then automatically deleted. Account information is retained for the duration of your subscription plus 30 days. You may request immediate deletion at any time.

9. Security

friiup employs TLS 1.3 encryption in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews.

10. Changes to this policy

We will notify you by email at least 14 days before any material changes take effect.

Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of the friiup email triage and drafting service operated by Ari Zucker ("friiup"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

The Service is intended for regulated professionals and their authorized staff in Canada. You must be at least 18 years of age.

2. Description of service

friiup provides an AI-powered email triage, labeling, and drafting assistant. The Service generates drafts only — it does not send emails without your explicit approval.

3. Your responsibilities

4. Acceptable use

You may not use the Service to send spam, violate any applicable law, transmit defamatory or fraudulent content, reverse-engineer proprietary systems, or share account access with unauthorized third parties.

5. AI limitations and professional responsibility

AI-generated drafts are suggestions only. You retain full professional responsibility for every communication sent from your account. The Service is a productivity tool — it does not constitute legal, medical, psychological, accounting, or any other professional advice.

6. Subscription and billing

Subscription plans are billed monthly in Canadian dollars. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.

7. Intellectual property

You retain ownership of all email content in your inbox. You grant friiup a limited, non-exclusive license to process your email and calendar data solely for the purpose of providing the Service.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." friiup makes no warranties regarding uninterrupted availability or the accuracy of AI-generated content.

9. Limitation of liability

friiup’s total liability shall not exceed the total fees paid by you in the three months preceding the claim. friiup shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

10. Termination

Either party may terminate at any time. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Québec and the federal laws of Canada. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Montréal, Québec.
